The Importance of Vascular Access Teams

Posted on by Mary Smith

We have been building and promoting the use of vascular access teams all across the US for several years now.  We know the value these teams bring to facilities,  such as reduced supply costs and reduced health care workers time to insert devices on patients, but the number one, most important value these teams provide is patient safety.  We ask every student in our classes “What is the primary role of the health care provider”… The answer:  “Patient Safety”

I want to thank  Nancy Moureau, RN, PhD, CRNI, CPUI, VA-BC for publishing this article in Infection Control Today.  Nancy is a strong leader and advocate for the patient needing a vascular access device (IV, Midline, PICC, CVC etc).
