INS Beijing China

It was my pleasure to speak at INS in Beijing on Friday.  The presentation was focused on catheter material,  Trends in the USA.  With many manufactures of PICC lines, it is difficult to choose the correct material.  Atillio Di Fore, a project Manager, presented at AVA on polyurethane materials.  The nurses in China place hundreds of PICC lines a month.  This is a skill that they have perfected.   Nurses all around the country want the same thing for our patients;  good outcomes with the least amount of complications.  Thrombosis and Tip Malposition were the major concerns with the chinese nurses.  The first hospital I presented to after INS was an Air Force Hospital.  The Director of Nursing, Qiao Aizhen,  and I spent some time discussing health care at her facility.  The Air Force Hospital has around 4,000 beds.  Amazing!  I developed an immediate respect for her.  After meeting with the nurses here,  I came to the conclusion that nurse all around the world have the same issues with PICC and CVC lines.
