Recently the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released its Healthcare Association Infection (HAI) report showing progress in reduction of HAI’s, however there is still room for vast improvement. http://www.cdc.gov/hai/pdfs/stateplans/factsheets/wi.pdf
The 2012 occurrence of Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI) among Wisconsin hospitals is 55% lower than the 2008 national baseline. So Wisconsin has made great strides in lowering CLABSI compared to the national average. This is in correlation with Hospitals seeking out Infection Prevention education, and educational training programs that can help to reduce CLABSI occurrences. The more education and training that Healthcare providers seek out the more this number will continue to trend downward.
