Say congratulations to Fort HealthCare’s new PICC insertion team! The team is comprised of Deb Roe, NP, Bridgett Piller, RN, Toni Clemens, RN, Gail Bishach, RN and Heather White, RN. The team will also be adding their hospitalist. These nurses have committed to improving patient care by creating a multidisciplinary team to insert PICC’s and educate staff, patients and family members. All nursing staff needs to be competent in care and maintenance of these lines. The staff attended a 2 hour class on how to prevent and treat complications such as phlebitis and infection. The nurses at the bed side, are an important team member, and are key to the success of this program. Nurses had excellent questions in regards to care and maintenance. When setting up a new PICC program it is very important that we ask these questions and work together as a team to trouble shoot and prevent complications from these lines. Congratulations to this new team! Thank you to Health Line Medical Products and Centurion Medical Products for providing PICC lines and Bundles for this class!
