I recently taught the lab staff how to use ultrasound for lab draws. They were so excited to learn this skill. It didn’t take long for them to put this skill to work! We had a “difficult stick” on the unit and the lab staff took the time to get the ultrasound machine from the ED and use it to get the samples they needed. I heard from the nursing staff how impressed they were that the lab staff had this knowledge. The patient was probably the most impressed. This goes to show that we need to do all we can to provide the best care for our patients. Excellent customer service! Another way to improve patient satisfaction scores.
